Trip Report 26/09/2006 to 10/10/2006 the final countdown

Mr Whitt says......

Well here goes folks....we have done the hotel and the stress of the upgrade, the places to eat and the good lord knows how many of you have switched off with Mrs Whitts report of Celine...good job she%26#39;s not reading this over my shoulder....Mrs that is not Celine in case you are wondering.

Now the final installment I would like to share some of the finer moments with you............The views, the heat, the wonder of it all. Even the construction, the new and improved Vegas one can%26#39;t fail to be impressed and amazed by the constant change.

We visited the Stratosphere Tower for the first time, I had told my kids I was gonna be brave enough to test the rides at the top....Mrs Whitt and I had braved the Hulk in Florida showing our two offspring that us oldies had still got it....so the little brats had thrown down the gauntlet...the old man had to do the Big Shot...that hangy over the edge thing and the spinny swirly thing.....So, determined not to let the fear get the better of me we ventured to the observation deck in preperation for the launch.

Obviously I timed it so that we were there at sunset so I could be ultra romantic with Mrs in the hope she would forget my wager with the young ones.....no chance...as the sun set and the Strip began to light up I gently slipped my arm around Mrs Whitt%26#39;s waist and nuzzled up close and began to whisper sweet nothings into her ear....and thats what it got me...NOTHING....';ARE YOU GOING ON THAT BOUNCY THING THEN?'; she said..'; IN A MINUTE'; I said acting really cool and that I wasn%26#39;t fazed at all.......I felt the vomit starting to rise as I looked up at the big stick thing with all the (CRAZY) people sat holding onto their lunch, imagine paying for a massive buffet then sharing it with half the Strip, I bet you could hit the Stardust from up there. Anyway....I suggested we move to the other side and watch the sunset from there, like it would be any different...time to stall I thought.....then on the way round I saw the little information boards that explained the view through that particular window...excellent I would pretend I knew what I was talking about and tell the wife how parts of Nevada got it%26#39;s name.....tee hee me from little old England, where Robin Hood comes from pretending I knew anything......I guess by now you can all guess the outcome so I won%26#39;t bore you with wether or not I went on the rides.

Mrs Whitt say%26#39;s.......

He didn%26#39;t.........................wuss.....!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr Whitt says....

Yes but how many of you know WUSS meas Whitt Uses Sense Sometimes...and that was definitely one of those times....better to be safe than not able to write this report eh?

The view from the top was phenominal as is every view of Las Vegas.

We spent every day of our 14 days in Vegas wishing and planning that we could and will live there someday.

We met up with some friends from California and spent some time in and around the Forum shops....Mrs said it was because she wanted me to look around the good shops we don%26#39;t have in the U.K. and that she wanted me to look for gifts for the good folks back home.....she thinks I am stupid....we never set foot out of the Celine Dion boutique...I tell a lie she did once let me have a gamble.......a 25c slot and I won 0.01c( she even stopped me cashing the voucher and she has put it in a frame back home)....then back to the boutique....back in a mo.

Mrs Whitt says........my goodness,and they say us women can talk....

So quickly my good and bad bits.......

Celine....well you all know that ';brilliant';

Fremont Street,not great but worth a look...

Jubilee at Ballys....RUBBISH....

Phantom at Venetian,great all new and spruced up compared to seeing it back home at London.....

Strat....most amazing views ever....

Helicopter trip over the Strip....would have been better if we got good seats in the chopper,as it was I struggled to see anything at all with the path it took...

Shopping at the Malls(Premium and LV Outlet) I love it...shows us British folks how much we are ripped off in our country.....£11 for a pair of Levi%26#39;s....jeez....!!!!!

Lake Las Vegas...(had to drive out to try and spot you know who)yeah right.....but still worth the drive.....

Ethel M%26#39;s.....disappointing apart from the Cacti...I have always wanted to see a proper one(you know...the one you see in cartoons with two arms on the side..)

Most of all,the mountains...what a stunning backdrop for such a crazy place that we have both come to love so so much.....

So thanks to all you American folks who welcome us Brit%26#39;s into your amazing country without a second thought....you all truly are the best people I have ever met...and Vegas really is ';fabulous';

Did I mention that she made me drive all the way to Lake wherever no doubt guided in by some hugh neon CELINE LIVES HERE sign.......DOH!

I think Mrs has said it all........if we were to write a full report of everything we did and experienced you would all be bored, if youre not already....so we will keep most of it in our hearts and memories....but I want to echo what the boss has said....thanks to all you wonderful people who made us feel welcome and who have made us determined to come to live with y%26#39;all.

what absolutely fantastic TR%26#39;s you have both written, I thoroughly enjoyed them all, yes even the Celine one! We have visited twice this year, it took my husband of almost 10yrs about the same amount of time in years to persuade me to go to Vegas, somehow I never thought it would be my kind of holiday, but I love it just as much as him now if not more. We have just booked again for Feb/March and also for July/Aug and would very much like to think that we could indeed have a second home in the fabulous Las Vegas too. We are going to see Celine for the 1st time in March, I have to admit, am not a huge fan but lots of people have told me the show she performs is absolutely brilliant so its about time we went and found out for ourselves.

Thanks for your TR%26#39;s, its reports like these that make me realise more than ever what a fantastic city Las Vegas really is.

Great trip report! The longest I%26#39;ve stayed in Vegas has been a week, it didn%26#39;t sound like you two got bored at all in the two weeks.

Too bad you didn%26#39;t try the Strat rides, altho I don%26#39;t know if I would either. I do have a friend you has been on all of them(member of ACE -American Coasters Enthusiasts(sp). Thanks again.

Thanks for the great TR! I laughed and laughed...imagining poor Mr. Whitt trying to get out of riding the ';Big Shot'; and the others on top of the Strat!

Great post - when I got to ';Whitt Uses Sense Sometimes'; I nearly fell out of my chair laughing...the Mr. and Mrs. alternating format was very entertaining. You guys should seriously have your own travel TV show where you visit different American cities and review them.

Couldn`t agree more....if there are any T.V. execs reading this and want to take a punt on two quirky Brits then you know where we are and we are available and cheap....or is that inexpensive.
