Car hire to the Grand Canyon?

Can anyone recommend a good, cheap car hire firm in Vegas? Is it easier to wait till we get there and deal with them directly, or better to book something over the internet? We are looking to book something for two nights to take a drive out to the Grand Canyon (start of December). Any guidelines on what sort of prices we should be looking for? It%26#39;s just me and my husband, so all we need is something small, cheap and reliable.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Any size car you rent will be reliable, but since you are going to the canyon, I would recommend at least a mid size and a 6 cylinder car.

I don%26#39;t know if it will be cheaper if you wait and rent it from Vegas.

One thing you should know is other than the regular daily rate, they will ask you to purchase insurance for those two days.

That insurance can be more than the rental price.

Our auto insurance in US covers for the rental car, so most people I know, do not actually buy the additional insurance from car rental companies. But you better check with your auto insurance company, to see if you are covered here in US
