TR- 11/3-6, Bellagio, Max's, Carmel, Moon, and more

My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous weekend in Vegas to celebrate his 41st birthday! As usual we had a wonderful time and applied more of the useful tips we picked up on this site to our trip! Thanks to all the helpful people on TA!

Hotel:

We had a Bellagio Suite (33026) to celebrate my husband%26#39;s birthday! Wow-what a treat. There were three bathrooms! Upon entering, there is a half bath (gorgeous), but then, off the bedroom there were ';his'; and ';hers'; bathrooms. ';His'; had a shower which also functioned as a steam room! ';Hers'; had a whirlpool bathtub with jets. This tub was different than in the Salon Suite, as it did not have a window. Both had TV%26#39;s. The living room and bedroom (separate-another difference from the Salon Suite) were both lovely with huge windows to watch the fountain display below us! There was a refrigerator which came in handy for storing snacks or meals we did not finish and a bottle of champagne.

Casino:

We did most of our gambling at the Bellagio this visit. We had great luck with the nickel slots (husband won $110 during our first hour in town) and the roulette table. However, no good luck for husband when he gambled on the Cowboys in the Sportsbook! However, with his bet at the Sportsbook, he did get all of his drinks included. I guess some sportsbooks only give you some coupons. Be forwarned if you are going to watch an NFL game, my husband went 3 hours early for the first Sunday game, and he was lucky to find a seat!! It was packed the whole day with lots of people standing around!

Food:

Max%26#39;s at Desert Passage-Several people had recommended it on this site. The $3.99 lunch menu was a great deal, and the food was very good. We actually went twice and tried the wings (husband loved the sauce), spinach dip, chicken club sandwich, and hamburger. They have higher priced items on the menu like salads, pizza, and pasta. There is a 3 4 1 drink deal at the bar only. Thus, I had 3 high roller martinis for the price of one ($13.00). We were both really pleased with the drinks! The one downside was that the service was not good on either visit. No silverware or napkins the first time. No spinach dip after 25 minutes the second trip. Service was not overly attentive. On the second trip, the bartender comped the spinach dip and gave us free shots, as I guess she could tell we were frusterated. Nice gesture!

Victorian Room-We ate here every night in the middle of the night-around 1 or 2 am each time. I ate the Prime Rib special each time (13.95) because I love it so much (yes my size 6 body feels fat now). Husband had the 3.49 breakfast special (offered only in the middle of the night through early morning) which included eggs, toast, hasbrowns, and meat of choice. He also tried the pancakes on one visit and enjoyed that also.

Ellis Island- Finally, we tried the spot everyone talks about. Upon entering, the casino was better than I expected from the outside. We had a 5 minute wait for a table even though there were several ones open. The 4.95 special was as documented on this site-salad (with way more dressing than salad), huge steak (too much for me), lots of great steak fries, and green beans. It was a lot of food, and I am surprised with the value so close to the strip. The walk from Bellagio was about 20 minutes and pleasant during the day. We will probably not go back, as we much prefer the Victorian Room. However, it was fun to try!

Snacks at Bellagio- We have walked by this place endless times. We tried the French Dip, Chicken Club Wrap (my favorite), and onion rings on two different visits. We felt the portions were huge and split the sandwich each time. Sandwiches come with a really great coleslaw (or chips).

il Palio at Bellagio- I got the refillable mug mentioned previously on this site. Includes refills on coffee and soft drinks. Good value considering how much a soft drink can cost.

Nightlife-

Carmel-We had two for one drink coupons which we used on Saturday night (instead of going to Light as we had planned). Great music, setting, and drinks. I highly recommend this spot.

Moon and Playboy Club (at Palms)-We got in free due to the birthday. The Playboy Club is open on the lower floor and Moon occupies the upper two floors (top of hotel) with two decks overlooking the Strip. This was a really cool club-my favorite in Vegas. The music, dancers, view, lighting, decorating-all was great. There is a retractable roof, which was a cool feature.

Sapphire- Yes I went to this club per the birthday boy%26#39;s wishes. I have been to Olympic Garden also (where many more women were there with their significant others), and I think Sapphire is much nicer inside (cleaner, neon lights, high stages, and much larger). Husband felt it was a great evening.

Shopping-Only minimal time spent at Betsey Johnson and ABC at Desert Passage.

Highlight- I was 2 feet from Vince Neil (Motley Crue) as he came out of his new tatoo parlor on the Strip. It was sooooo cool, as I grew up as a huge fan! Had to get a T-shirt to commemorate the sighting. No tatoo this time (one is currently enough for me!).

Dissapointment- The cab line at the airport when we landed was 1 hour long-I am not joking! We wove in and out of these ropes like at an amusement park. I have never seen anything like it and hope to never experience this again.

Looking forward to our New Year%26#39;s trip in Vegas next.

Please feel free to ask any questions!

Where are you staying for NYE?

Oh yea great report.

We did not have any problems with noise of any kind!!! We were more centrally located in the hotel, though, so not near the construction.

We are staying at Bally%26#39;s for NYE. Are you going too?! We wanted to be centrally located, and they gave us a good rate.

Great Report !

Great report thanks for sharing.

i too am trying to get up the nerve to go with my husband to a gentlemans club. I seem to chicken out.

Oh it%26#39;s fun! I%26#39;ve been to a few with BF-last 1 was in key west in Feb. He probably wouldn%26#39;t want to go to 1 in Vegas though--he%26#39;s not into the glamour and glitz--would rather see natural girl next door girls! LOL

Going to Sapphire was certainly not my idea of fun, but it turned out to be OK. The place was really cool inside. Plus, I am amazed at some of the acrobatics that took place on the pole! Hehe!

Great TR! Very well-written and informative. Sounds like you saw a lot in the 3 days! Thanks again.

Hi WSG-

Great to read your report. I was sick the last two days and I%26#39;m just getting caught up with what%26#39;s up here on TA. I didn%26#39;t feel like touching my computer at all. I had to giggle at the fact that people in a suite at Bellagio can be seen at EI, eating the $4.95 steak special. Hey, you have to save the buckeroos for gambling, right? I still had a bunch of OneClub comp dollars to use by the end of the year, so I only paid for 2 meals myself last month, and one ended up coming off the bill at MGM, anyway. Did you gamble at Aladdin at all? I did, just because I was going to go to ABC, anyway. I was pleased at ABC%26#39;s new convenient location, but disappointed at the construction in the Aladdin casino. It was much worse than what I saw in January.

I saved your email address and I%26#39;ll try to figure out a good time to meet you and tdc in good ol%26#39; O.P.
