Well, arrived home a couple of hours ago and thought I%26#39;d take care of this before I fall asleep on the couch! After this weekend I%26#39;ve decided I%26#39;m never doing Vegas by myself again.
Arrived about 4:30 in the afternoon (wrong time to get there I%26#39;ve found) and waited in the taxi que for over an hour. Was not a happy camper. I stayed at the Fairfield Grand Desert, which is a lovely property. I would recommend it to anyone (families, too) as a place to stay. The shower is simply enormous, terrific in-room hot tub, bed was a little stiff for me, but the pillows were wonderful. They have an adult only pool and a couple of hot tubs outside. While they don%26#39;t have a restaurant on-site, they do have a little grill with snacks and such and the equivalent to a ';mini mart'; with a few selections as well.
While the property was nice, the woman that checked me in was a complete idiot. Took her 30 minutes to find my reservation. She couldn%26#39; t ';see'; it on the screen. Once her supervisor came over, she pointed it out to her, right there in front of her nose. OK, can deal with that. Go up to my assigned room (clear across the property) to find that the door was propped open, garbage bags were all over it, basically, housekeeping wasn%26#39;t finished with it. So...back across the property to the front desk. She apologizes all over the place, gives me a box of chocolates for my trouble (which were very good, by the way), puts me in another room and re-scans the key to fit the new room. Back across the property (same floor, different room number) to my room....freakin%26#39; key doesn%26#39;t work! Back across the property to the front desk again. This time I went to another station and was taken care of very quickly. Back across AGAIN...luckily, this time it worked. By now its almost 8:00, I%26#39;m in my room, and no bag. Called the concierge to have it brought up....had to call back 45 minutes later when it still hadn%26#39;t arrived.
After a very quick shower and change of clothes it was off to the Strip. Took the hotel shuttle to Harrah%26#39;s (only place they go, last one returns at 10:30) and did a little gambling and wandering around. Won a little, lost a little...stayed on the strip til about 1:30 am. Got a cab and went back to the hotel. Those that say its a quick walk from the MGM to the Fairfield are out of their minds. Also, quite a trek to the Hard Rock.
Off to bed to start another day.
Up about 10:00 and down to FSE. They were honoring the veterans downtown, which was kind of neat. A few live bands up and down the street. Won a little, lost a little. Had to grab a cab to the Greek Isles to pick up my ticket for the RatPack show. Got the tickets and sat down to play a little penny slots. Actually, was paying quite well in spite of the small size of the casino there. Since cabs don%26#39;t just come to the Greek Isles apparently, I had the front desk call me one. Forty-five minutes later I said heck with it, walked down the street to the Marriot, and picked up a cab there.
Back to the hotel, quick shower and change then off to the show, via cab. I highly recommend the RatPack! Was funny, entertaining, and if you close your eyes, you honestly can%26#39;t tell the lead (Sinatra) is not the real thing. He does a perfect Frank, from voice to mannerisms. The guy doing Joey was hilarious, and the woman portraying Marilyn looked eerily like her. Dinner there was good, too. I was a little apprehensive about ordering the steak dinner, but it was tender and quite tasty.
Cab back to the strip, then cab back to the hotel about 11:00 after a trip to pick up some Chinese.
Flight back today was delayed 20 minutes because of a little snow in Denver where they had to de-ice. I will say I see a great improvement in the seats aboard Frontier. They were much more comfortable than the United seats on the way out. Didn%26#39;t feel as cramped, either.
All in all, the trip was OK, although somewhat disappointing. Had no one to talk with, no one to eat with, so that was kind of a bummer. I%26#39;ve definitely decided I%26#39;ll never do Vegas alone again.
Oh...and not even one ';hit';, so nothing to surprise the kids with about their mom having a ';what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas'; weekend.
*pout*
Trip Report 11/10 - 11/12
I am sorry to hear you didnt have alot of fun in LV,
I go to Lv all the time by myself but I am used to eating by myself and I like setting my own schedule. I think if I went with another adult to LV I would probably either never see them or scream because they probably would want to sleep all morning- I got to hit the buffet early to beat the crowds. Next time you go stay at TI, if you look you can get some really good deals there, I got for the dates of 11/23-11/25 $139.99 per night (where else can you stay on a Friday night for $139.99? I cant stay at a 2 star , motel in OC CA for $139.00 and TI is a four star hotel, new beds, great place to stay at.

Sorry to hear you were a little lonely being in Vegas by yourself. I wonder if your choice of hotel had anything to do with it. Staying mid-strip in the heart of the action, and not having to spend so much time in cabs and on shuttles might have made socializing easier.
That being said, I probably wouldn%26#39;t go to Vegas by myself either, but that%26#39;s because I%26#39;m a guy and women are not just going to spontaneously want to hang out with me - at least, not for free!
I would have to agree about going alone. i did that in April. Many people on here write how they love it. I did like the fact that I could do what I wanted, when I wanted, but I missed having someone to talk to, or eat with. I would strike up a conversation with someone, but its just not the same. If I had nobody to go to Vegas with, I would go alone, but luckily, I talked my daughter into going with me in Dec.
';Whats a lovely lady like you doing in a place like this';
Not exactly as good as a Vegas hit ,but hopefully clears the pout and puts a little smile on your face
Enjoyed the tr ,thanks for posting.
