What is open/closed on X-mas?

Hi,

We%26#39;ll be there for 4 days around X-mas %26amp; i%26#39;m wondering how quiet it will be on X-mas day.

Are shops closed? What about restaurants %26amp; shows?

I%26#39;m wondering because here in Montreal, the whole city goes dead on X-mas day.

Thanks !

I%26#39;ve been in Vegas at Xmas for the last 6yrs. Most of the shows are dark, but other than that its business as usual. I found it to be a great place to spend Xmas if you%26#39;re looking to get away from the usual holiday (thats the reason we go), and you can get yourself a few presents! Everything comes back to life the next day, and the crowds will begin to increase as it gets closer to New Years. My favorite place to be on Xmas...ho ho ho!

I too have spent X-Mas in Vegas and found it to be a little quiet but everything seemed to be open.

Some restaurants are open, some closed. Most shows are dark, some are not. Most stores closed, some open. It’s a mystery!

We%26#39;ve gone the last few years and it%26#39;s just as crowded as any other weekend. Probably because Christmas landed on a weekend. And since this year it lands on a Mon., I%26#39;m sure it will be just as crowded. You%26#39;ll be surprised at how many people don%26#39;t really celebrate Christmas and end up going to Vegas.

Also, some of the buffets jack up their prices. Last year, there was a 2 hour wait for the Bellagio buffet!!

I saw Ka last year on I think Dec 23rd, so some big shows aren%26#39;t dark

My first visit to Vegas was X mas day 1982

God, things has changed in 24 years.

The place was more than half empty, and I have never seen casinos so quiet since that day.

however, I was in vegas for Xmas 2003 and the place was packed like a normal day, and everything was open (I don%26#39;t go to shows, so I dunno about that).

I can tell you that you won%26#39;t see too many shops or restaurants close that day, specially in the hotels.

Hi,I was there last X-mas and it was very busy and most stores and restaurants were open.I also had no problem with shows ,I have found that more shows are dark the week before X-mas than at this time. I will add that not all restaurants are open and if there is a certain place that you wish to dine, you should call first and inquire about thier hours of operation. I am going to be in Vegas again this X-mas and 2 of the restaurants that I was interested in are closed that day and 1 is not sure if they will be open or not because ';we have not been informed yet as to what our hours will be and if we will be open.';2 were not hotel restaurants and 1 is a desert passage restaurant. The buffet lines are HUGE on X-mas day so plan on a long wait if that is your desire.

I have been the last 3 years at Christmas. It is pretty crowded to me! Lots of families on the strip pushing strollers. I could not believe the stores in the forum shops and the Venetian were open, but they were!

Last year we went to the Valley of Fire for a Christmas picnic, we were able to buy sandwiches, chips on the strip at a subway.

You can check opentable.com for some restaurants that are open and taking reservations, this is not a complete list but some of the nicer places that may interest you. Also check shows at vegas.com and type in the dates, then you will see what is available at that time. I know there are many to choose from. I think we are going to do a show on Christmas this year. Sounds like there will be a lot of TA members in Vegas for Christmas. Maybe we should go caroling from casino to casino. LOL
