Any advice for visiting Vegas with a 14 year old?
Las Vegas with a 14 year oldDon%26#39;t.
Las Vegas with a 14 year oldIt all depends on what you expect out of you trip. I took my 14 year old son with us in 2003. We went for our 25th anniversary, and we went during NASCAR. My hubby doesn%26#39;t gamble, so they went to the races (I only went to one). They did the Richard Petty Driving Experience and had a blast. We went to Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, Bonnie Springs Old Nevada, and drove to California. My son loved the lights of Fremont Street, saw a couple of shows, and he can%26#39;t wait to go back. Since my hubby doesn%26#39;t gamble, he and our son hung out together while I gambled. I usually go there for a ';girls getaway'; so this was a very different trip for me. I didn%26#39;t gamble as much as I usually do, but I saw more than I usually see. I hate seeing the parents with kids in strollers, and hate seeing teenagers waiting in the fast food places for their parents to come back for them. That is just not right. But if you are going there knowing your trip will be different with a 14 year old along, go for it and have a great time.
Very well stated shadow.
Go only Sun to Thurs, never on a weekend
Go only late May to Sept, swimming weather, to a hotel with a great pool (monteCarlo, MGM)...Rent a car
pool time and side trips are important with teens in Vegas, appropriate for their age. Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, hike in Red Rock area, Lake Mead cruise
Book Mystere or other family show
Porn slapper cards make great collector cards that he/she can trade stuff for at school.
He/she can just pick them up off the ground all along the strip, and have quite a stack going before you can say ';prostitution!';
Hi
We have taken our teenage sons with us 3 times before, they always enjoys themselves but we are on a vacation as a family not a gambling trip. We always take into consideration how good the pool is for them eg slide etc.
Our boys enjoy the roller coasters at NYNY and Sahara also the rides on top of the Stratosphere. They also enjoyed a day out at Primm for the Desperado coaster and the shopping malls as they can get all the clothes they like from there at a fraction of the cost of the UK.
They also enjoyed being taken to a show, just chose one you know will interest them, ours chose we will rock you and the afternoon show at the Stratosphere.
They also liked visiting the valley of fire, hoover dam and Laughlin and Oatman where you can feed the wild burros.
The light show at Freemont is also good and the fountains at Bellagio.
Overall Vegas is so different from anywhere else just looking at the different hotel themes is an experence for them.
Have a great trip
Clive
OK, Ill ask the question.
Are you related to the 14 yr old?
Imperial Palace has a nice Auto Exhibit if the 14 year old is into cars. You can get coupons for free entry in most of the free magazines in Vegas-such as What%26#39;s On.
Of all the beautiful, fun, truly family-oriented vacations spots available in the U.S., planning a vacation to Las Vegas with children is, in most cases, simply an excuse to drag the kids to a gambling jaunt for the adults. Las Vegas is an adult-oriented destination with EXTREMELY limited entertainment venues for anyone under 21.
