Planning 30th birthday trip… any advice?

Hello,

I’m planning on taking my girlfriend to Vegas for the first time for her 30th Bday (End of January for a week).

Since this trip will be a surprise, and it’s celebrating an important occasion I’d like to splash out a bit. Therefore, I’m thinking of staying at either the Venetian or the Bellagio are there any major differences between these two? Are there other hotels which I should consider? Does it make much difference booking direct with the hotel or thru a tour operator (such expedia)?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for excursions such as helicopter tours / horse riding etc?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Certainly book through the hotel as it is generaly cancellable (see the terms for each hotel) and you cann call if and when the rate lowers, which happens often in Vegas.

Bellagio is the ultimate luxury hotel and would be a fabulous birthday surprise! Venetian is a beautiful hotel with large suites standard. I would say either way you can%26#39;t go wrong, but because it%26#39;s such a special occasion I would give the edge to Bellagio for overall luxury feel and location.

You might consider an evening helicopter flight over the strip.

Also, look into having a limo pick you up at the airport - Presidential Limo is a company that gets a lot of good reviews here. Pretty reasonable too.

Make sure your week does not run into superbowl weekend,or the big convention in january as rates will rocket for these 2 dates

CES is 8-11 jan and superbowl is sun 4/2

The dates we%26#39;re looking at are 19th - 27th +/-

Are there any conversions during this period?

Better off going 18-26 as you only take in one fri/sat night.A lot of hotels will not let you stay a fri night only, and it will be cheaper.

Any hotels in mind?

There%26#39;s one very big convention (85,000 delegates) during your stay. Use this link to see a convention calendar for any dates:

lvcva.com/meetings/convention-calendar.jsp

The dates you mention cover two weekends. Try to avoid Friday %26amp; Saturday nights if at all possible. Hotel rates can be three times or more what they are midweek.

The Bellagio is $2200+taxes

The Venetian is $1800+ taxes

Both for 7 nights starting on 18th jan.

The Bellagio at 1800 sounds pretty good. Did you get that rate from their site?

Should I be concerned by the concrete convention?

Hey there Jon,

I would go with the Bellagio deal always a fun place to stay. We like the casino better at the Bellagio and it has great access to the rest of the strip.

From everyones experience is it worth waiting for room rates to go down closer to the date?

I%26#39;ve noticed that Expedia has a good flight/hotel deal (around $1,000 less) although I guess taking this option would be mean I%26#39;m not able to take advantage of price drops / comps.
