Traffic from LAX to Vegas

Will drive to Vegas from LAX on Nov. 22nd and will be back on the 24nd. Does anyone know how the traffic is on the freeway? Is the road construction still going on?

What time during the day shall we leave from LA / Vegas? Any suggestions for us to avoid the traffic?

While most people fly out of LAX, it seems you are driving. Now since your name indicates you live in LA, I%26#39;ll assume you aren%26#39;t flying to there from somewhere else. So (finally) here is the question. Do you live at the airport?

The traffic will almost certainly be awful. You are leaving on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Thus the traffic will be even worse than usual. Personally I would fly

Not to rub it in but so very glad I no longer live near traffic.

Is that so ridiculous, Doc? Didn%26#39;t you see the movie ';The Terminal'; with Tom Hanks? A lot of people have immigration issues and have to live at airports for a few weeks.

Maybe they live really close to LAX?

SC...when I saw the title I thought they were asking about air traffic. Then I read ';drive';.

I have made that drive many times on that Wed and my family has made it even more times than me (coming up to visit me for Thanksgiving when I lived there). If you dont leave before noon, it gets bad. Usually by noon and you are ok.

Same thing for people heading back to SoCal on a Sunday and especially the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Check out time at the hotels in Noon and most people dont rise early in Vegas so if you get out of Vegas by Noon you are OK. One time on the Sunday after Thanksgiving it took me about 7 hours to get to Orange Co, when usually it takes me 3.5 or less.

Actually, I took it that it was a typo- flying (not driving)from LAX to LV..and asking how the traffic to the airports at either side was... Maybe I am reading it wrong... :-/

Sorry to confuse some of you, we live 15 min from the airport, at West LA. I put LAX there because most of you know where it is.

If you%26#39;re in L.A., just watch CBS2 with Vera Jimenez. She does a great job with her traffic reports. They%26#39;re very comprehensive.

Amber, I would strongly advise you to leave LV a whole lot earlier than noon on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Like....6 AM. In the morning going on Wednesday 9:00 would be OK.
