No Confirmation from MGM but CC charged?

I booked a room at MGM last week for 6 nights in April, clerk said email to be sent - did not rec. one so I was patient and waited the weekend. Called on Tuesday and clerk said the email would be sent asap, to date still have not rec%26#39;d any email. Today noticed credit c. charged for first night. Is that typical? I want something on paper other then just my conf. no. from the time of booking. I need to call the hotel again as the rates have dropped for 4 nights.

30states.Jo did you get your email from MGM? Lowrance what do you advise? Thanks for any info.

That%26#39;s very strange that you have not received an email confirmation. I always get one within minutes of booking at any hotel. I would call with the confirmation number and get them to give me the lower rates. Also if you have registered with the MGM website you should be able to view your reservation online and print it out. It is typical for the casinos to charge the first night as a deposit. In most cases If you cancel at least 72 hours prior you will get it refunded.

Dramaqueen71 - thanks for the info and yeah I went online and my reservation is there but did they screw up on my email address :( it only makes sense why I never rec%26#39;d it. I am concerned as the person that got my confirmation email has my address/phone no. and last 4 digits on my cc. I will call right now and get that fixed. I appreciate your help.

I called the MGM and they were most helpful and apologized for the misinformation on my home address and email. Adjusted the rate, only made a 40$ difference but I was glad and they so nice about it. I am looking forward to our stay!

your confirmation # would have been enough. I absolutely NEVER request e-mails, don%26#39;t even give my e-mail addys to any businesses. too many thinks to go wrong - slim, yes, but the hassle of fighting identity theft or other issues invovlved weith your personal info being in an e-mail is not worth even the slightest risk to me.

confirmation numbers work, always have. if you want something n writing in the future ask for it to be mailed.

Yes, its been kinda freaking me out knowing someone else has my mailing address and name and that I am at MGM on the dates I booked. I hope nothing goes wrong.

I had a problem with MGM last year with them trying to charge me a different (higher) rate upon arrival. I had email, promo codes, confirmation number and credit card invoice for the first night charge. I went through an hour long arguement with them. Eventually they gave me the rate I booked under but not without much grief and dismay. I vowed to never stay there again, but what can I say I like the hotel. I am currently booked for 3 nights beginning November 29th. After booking online, I called and explained what happened to me before and I was transferred to a casino marketing host and asked to have something faxed to me stating my rate per night and my deposit made, etc. She was nice enough because of my hassle to reduce my last night%26#39;s stay by $50 which was at a slightly higher rate. But I would definitely keep all emails and confirmation info.

Ruteye, Drama gave you all you needed and glad it helped. Glad you called, too. Also glad they comped you a little for your trouble. Just carry your passport or picture ID with you, which shows YOU are Ruteye. (along with your confirmation#) I haven%26#39;t ever had any of this trouble, so I%26#39;m no expert, but you should be just fine!

Ruteye - Depending on how MGM got your email address wrong there%26#39;s a good chance that it didn%26#39;t go to anyone else%26#39;s inbox. You could send an email to the incorrect address and if it bounces you%26#39;d be pretty much assured that no one else received the email. But even if an email didn%26#39;t bounce there%26#39;s a chance it ended up in a spam filter or in an administrative account that%26#39;s never seen by a human.

Try not to worry too much!

Go old school and have them *gasp* FAX YOU or even *gasp* mail one!!

j/k, but seriously, go low-tech here...
