Downtown comps and slots

Which hotel downtown has best comps for slot players? Anyone have favorite places downtown that they play? Thanks

Downtown comps and slots

Everyone on this forum will agree that all downtown hotels are much more generous with their comps than the strip. I have stayed at the GN and they gave us buffet comps etc with hardly any play and without a card. I still now receive offers for heavily discounted rooms etc from them but with the trade show I attend every Jan, the cabs would kill my business partner and I going back and forth - otherwise - we quite like DT.

This was posted earlier under ';Golden Nugget pool is now open';

You don%26#39;t have to be a member of the Players Club at GN to be in Private Arrangements- it has nothing to do with gambling- we have never gambled there.

You call the Private Arrangements Office at GN (1-800-456-8443) and enroll. You then make all your reservations by calling the Private Arrangements Office each time. They keep track of your points. I know for each Mon- Thurs. night you get 25 points. I think you only get 20 per night for Fri and Sat. but we never go on weekends so I don%26#39;t know for sure. Whenever you get 100 points you can apply them for a free room night. ( it may take more than 100 for a Fri or Sat.)

You check in at the regular registration desk. They used to have a separate window for PA but I don%26#39;t think they did last time. The check in is the same. When you check out, the desk clerk says, ';you have earned (XX) private arrangement points so far- would you like to use them now or keep them in your account.? You have to have a minimum of 100 to use them.

However, in the past GN has had special offers for PA guests. We get a newsletter about four times a year. Sometimes they will offer you 50 points for certain dates ( their slower times). When they closed down the pool , they offered triple (75) points for each night for several dates. We go to Vegas three or four times a year and usually have enough points for at least two or three free nights a year. Sometimes they also have other things like their coupon book with two for one buffets etc. It costs nothing to join.

We learned about it the first time we stayed at GN about ten years ago. At that time they used to give an invitation to a cocktail party for all first time guests when you registered -which was sponsored by the Private Arrangement staff to tell you about the program- don%26#39;t know if they still do that. It was a great party- open bar, pizza, wings, sushi etc and lots of nice doorprizes.

Since we are not big gamblers we would never earn ';comps'; based on play so this is the only reward program that works for us.

You don%26#39;t have to join the Players Club at all. I had never joined Players Club till last year when they had a $10 in free Slot Play if you joined. It is a much better deal than those ';free pull'; things at other casinos because they preload your player%26#39;s card and you can use it on about any slot in the place. I managed to win $48 on my $10 free play in about 5 minutes. It%26#39;s the first and last time I%26#39;ve ever gambled at the Nugget!

We like PA and if you stay downtown it seems like you have nothing to lose by trying it.. The PA room rate you get when you call is always as low or lower than the Internet rate. Last year we saw $59 posted on the Internet and called PA to reserve a room and they asked us if we wouldn%26#39;t rather have $39 instead! Room at GN for $39 ( plus PA points toward a future room) sounds like deal to me!

no cocktail party for prospective private arrangements customers at GN anymore!!

But it%26#39;s a great program

if you like old, don%26#39;t mind darkish with low ceilings, Golden Gate is interesting - with old pix of san francisco, ';famous'; cheap shrimp cocktails(never had one) and low limits on table games - some people love it, some hate it - I%26#39;m unusual on that - it%26#39;s okay

GN best hotel, by far

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Golden Nugget, Four Queens, Fitzgeralds and Fremont. I use my slot card at all when playing. I%26#39;m a very low roller, so I don%26#39;t expect much in comps. I have received offers for free rooms at the Fremont, and a discount at the Plaza. I have never heard from the other casinos downtown. I have never had any luck at the Gold Nugget, have done fairly well at the others mentioned.

Another Low Roller chiming in. We get offers for free nights at the Plaza constantly and we don%26#39;t even gamble much at the property!

It%26#39;s old and thread-worn, but not seedy if you%26#39;re concerned about that.

Im another low roller who has had better luck downtown. I receive great offers from the 4-Queens on a regular basis.
