airfare to vegas

I know this has been discussed before, but I%26#39;m trying to get a few more opinions. We%26#39;re going to Vegas March 16-23. I%26#39;ve found some pretty reasonable airfare, but wondered if

I should wait until after the holidays to book. Does airfare tend to go down or up the closer I%26#39;ll get to March?

Thanks for your help.

I%26#39;d say if you found something ';pretty reasonable'; now you should lock that in now. I can tell you from past experience working in the industry that fares are more likely steadily go up for March, not down. With spring break/March Madness/NASCAR, etc. going on in Vegas, demand will be strong then. High demand=high airfare. I%26#39;d start working on your hotel now, too.

THank you very much. We%26#39;ve got RCI membership so we%26#39;ll be staying at summer bay resorts. It looks okay, not great, but okay. We can fly AA for $300, I think it sounds like I should go ahead and book it.

Have you priced Southwest, or are they just not your type of airline? I mean, if you have a ton of miles with AA, then yes, go with them, but I%26#39;d check if SW has something better. I like America West/US Airways, but I don%26#39;t know if they fly from STL or not.

Actually SW is more expensive, I have checked and the others don%26#39;t have nonstop which is almost a must right now because we%26#39;re taking my 79 year old aunt so the fewer changes the better. I%26#39;ve put the AA tickets on hold until tomorrow so I%26#39;ll keep looking, but will probably go ahead and book then.

I%26#39;ve found that with Southwest lately-the alleged low fare leader does not always have the lowest fares. I guess that%26#39;s the real reason why they%26#39;re the most profitable airline in the western hemisphere. AA it is, then. I just dislike their MD-80 aircraft-they have the worst seats I%26#39;ve sat in in years, and I seem to recall they don%26#39;t have pillows anymore, either. But, as your name indicates, it%26#39;s Vegas, Baby, so you%26#39;ll be OK.
