Relaxing hotel off strip

This is me and the wifes fifth visit to vegas and last trip stayed 2 nites at the rio hotel. We enjoyed the off strip experience and was looking at other off strip hotels and have now narrowed it down to 2 The SOUTH POINT %26amp; The ORLEANS. We are in our mid thirties and would like a nice pool area and maybee a few dinning options don%26#39;t mind a shuttle to the strip and quite like the idea of bowling ? Which would be your choice and why?

I love both casinos but have not stayed in either.

Advantage of Orleans is; it is closer to strip

Advantage of South Point is; it is a new hotel/casino

I don%26#39;t think you can go wrong with either one

Usually, Orleans has a lower rates than South point

The Orleans caters to families. I was there this summer with the girls and the pool was all kids - as we had left our kids at home, would have preferred something more adult.

The rooms however were on the large size and clean and quiet in comparison to other hotels I have stayed at on the strip. I am returning over the holidays with the family and will stay there.

Don%26#39;t know when you%26#39;re going, but I booked Orleans in Dec. for $25/night!!

Orleans shuttle to strip in back is quick once you get on (be ready to show your coast club card), but sometimes there are more people waiting than the shuttle fits, esp. when leaving the Barbary Coast for the Orleans.

Don%26#39;t know anything about the pools, but Orleans has a great bowling alley with tons of lanes = don%26#39;t know about S Point.

South Point has the equestrian center - with luck you can walk right in and see something going on - did that in May (when it was still S Coast). South Point is also great for a lunchtime buffet.

Orleans sunday brunch buffet is quite good.

South Point is definitely newer, but I found it nice -- but very generic in design.

Hello dickie

If you plan to visit during the school holiday period then I would suggest the Orleans is not the place.

I love the Orleans and stayed in Sept this year but did make a point in my TR that I would not stay during school hols. Very family/kid orientated, but a great place.

The other slightly down side if a pool is your thing, is that the main pool is in shade a lot of the day as its situated right under the tower.

That said I think it offers excellent value and facility options including loads of good restaurants.

When are the school holidays in america? Thanks for everyones input so far , the orleans gets good praise , but looking on the south point website the rooms look a little bit classier? Would anybody know how much a taxi from the strip to the south point work out with a tip?
