We are booked at NYNY ($89p/n) Jan 1-5. We%26#39;ve never stayed there. But have visited and like the feel of the casino. I just got a promo in the mail for Aladdin which would Avg $49 p/n. We%26#39;ve stayed at Aladdin pre construction and really liked it. Who would switch for the almost the price?
NYNY or Aladdin
I have stayed at both, and I would definitely make that trade to pocket $160, yes ma%26#39;am. I was in the Aladdin casino a few weeks back and didn%26#39;t really enjoy it at all due to the construction, but everyone here says the rooms are just as good as before. I think Aladdin and MGM have two of the best and biggest standard rooms on the Strip, nicer than a Park Ave. room at NYNY. So, I%26#39;d recommend staying at the Aladdin, maybe even eating a little there and in the Desert Passage, but gamble at NYNY, MGM and/or Paris. As long as you%26#39;re not on a comp, you%26#39;re not really obligated to do anything in the Aladdin casino at all. Take the savings and play!
NYNY or Aladdin
I agree with SC. You can always walk to NYNY or wherever. The Aladdin has great rooms and for that price? The Trop sells Garden rooms all day for $49.
Book the Aladdin.
Those were my thoughts exactly about pocketing the money. Because we loved the rooms at Aladdin. But how bad is the casino exactly? I mean let%26#39;s face it, it%26#39;ll be January and VERY cold. If we decide we want to hang around our casino some of the time will we be terribly disappointed?

Well, to be fair, it is about 20% done in the new PH design and it looks promising. The whole center core is walled off, except for the escalator down to the buffet. I just found it dark and imposing, and for me, at least, the slots were tighter than ever before. I could always count on a few small wins (maybe $100 here, $200 there) pre-construction but I could not find a hot machine. After about $140 or so I gave up and moved on to Paris next door. I seem to recall a thread here maybe Monday or Tuesday about some guy who said he had to take a round-about way to get to his room due to some of the elevators being out. You may want to search ';aladdin'; and look for a date of Nov. 13th or 14th on that. There is a very nice restaurant just outside the casino called Commander%26#39;s Palace that consistently gets good reviews here. I wouldn%26#39;t wait too long on that $49 rate-it%26#39;s probably limited in availability.
Aladdin just on the basis of location.
I was at the Aladdin over this past weekend. I did not stay there. I did, however visit the casino on several occasions. It is fine. There is one section completely walled off. It is fine though. And it was not overcrowded like the NYNY casino. That place was a ZOO!!! It also has 2 Starbucks.
Save the bucks!!
I stayed at the Aladdin in March and thought it was great. I even booked it for our visit next week. That%26#39;s too good of a price to pass up.
I, too, agree with StripCruiser. Book the Aladdin, that%26#39;s a great price for those rooms, they%26#39;re enormous!! And I really prefer the location to NYNY. There is an ABC store in Desert Passage which is very convenient for water, snacks, etc.
Can%26#39;t comment on the casino in it%26#39;s current state, but when we were there in May it was smalller but so much less crowded than other strip casinos. Because of that we ended up doing a lot of our gambling there.
Make the switch!
I haven%26#39;t stayed at NYNY, but I stayed at Aladdin just last week and it sounds like some of the construction StripCruiser mentioned has been completed. Much more of the casino floor was open than when I was there in July and it felt pretty open compared to how it felt before the construction began. $49 sounds like a great price to me. Maybe you%26#39;ll get lucky like I did and score a room like I had with a terrific view of the Bellagio fountain show, without springing for an upgrade.
NYNY isn%26#39;t a bad walk from there so you%26#39;d still be able to head over and enjoy the vibe and you%26#39;d have more cash to use for placing bets!
For that price, definitely go with Aladdin. This is a no-brainer!
