I am a smoker, and a drinker, and during the day, when I play the slots, I smoke and drink non-stop.
I try to sit in a corner machine so the smoke won%26#39;t bother the person next to me, so much.
On few occasions, while I was playing and smoking, someone sat next to me, and after few seconds started to complain about my smoking, and how she can%26#39;t smoke (usually older women do that).
At first I was nice enough to put off my cigarette, but then I realized that they sat next to me knowing I was a smoker......Now I refuse to do that.
How do you non-smokers feel about sitting next to someone like me who is a chain smoker?
If that bothers you, do you complain or simply change your seat?
Does the smoke bother you? Really?
It%26#39;s really nice that you care and are at least considerate. They shouldn%26#39;t have sat next to you knowing you were a smoker. Normally I sit down and then the person starts smoking. I hate that. I wouldn%26#39;t sit down knowingly next to someone that smokes. I usually end up leaving even though I don%26#39;t want to. They have a right to smoke.
This happened to me over the weekend and in the short time I sat next to the guy, I walked away reeking of smoke in my hair and clothes.
Does the smoke bother you? Really?
I have the unfortunate problem of being extremely allergic to cigarette smoke (among other allergins). I love Vegas, and know that I will battle this problem during my visits. I have never complained to a fellow gambler about their smoking, but I have left a few tables where more than one person was smoking. I try to sit at a table without any smokers if I can find one. I noticed on my last trip earlier this month, that a someone would light their cigarette, and just leave it there in the ashtray burning away while they were betting (this was at roulette tables). I did find that a little much, and ended up cashing in rather than sitting there with a kleenex, blowing my nose every 2 minutes.
But, I respect that people are allowed to smoke and don%26#39;t try to regulate them. It%26#39;s just too bad that some people don%26#39;t excercise a little courtesy for the people around them. I wonder how many dealers get ill from second hand smoke.....
I usually will not sit next to a smoker if I can help it.They have a right to smoke, my problem not theirs. If someone starts to smoke and it bothers me, I either deal with it or I get up and move.I am not rude and I do not make comments or faces Etc. I have had smokers ask if i mind if they light up and I always say';no'; because ...well...it%26#39;s Vegas and that%26#39;s the way things are !
I am an ex smoker ( OK I still have an occasional cigar - especially when in LV ) and the only time I am bothered is if someone next to me is smoking and its drifting directly at me. I would not sit down next to a chain smoker therefore. I figure if he was there first then its my choice to find somewhere else.
I have had smokers ask if I mind if they light up and ya know if they ask , I never say no because its so good of them to ask !
I also agree that it is your right to smoke. However, even considerate smokers cannot stop wafts of foul smelling air travelling in my direction! How come it always drifts over to non smokers like a heat seeking missile?!!
If I am aware that you smoke then it is my choice if I sit near you and if I don%26#39;t like it then I can move. If you were there first why should you be forced to move?
It is an entirely different matter if the area is non smoking. You wouldn%26#39;t believe how many smokers choose to ignore this. In a non smoking area it is my right not to breath in smoke.
Just my opinion!
I meant ';no'; as in ';no, I do not mind if you light up.';
I am allergic...I will not sit down near a smoker..and when they come sit near me...sometimes they ask...and I tell them I am allergic...but if they do not ask..I move...I really have to take a lot of meds to survive in the casino%26#39;s...but I love it so... I still keep going........
I%26#39;m just like you Slotto....I get all hopped up on Claritin-D and away we go.....!!!
I enjoy smelling like an ashtray and having all the clothes in my suitcase pick up the smell too.
I do the same when playing slots musicman, chain smoke and drink. My husband won%26#39;t sit next to me, he hates it! I try to find a place away from people and if I can%26#39;t won%26#39;t smoke if the person next to me is not a smoker. I never smoke at at table game unless the whole table is lighting up. I hope the dealers appreciate it! So I guess in Dec. I%26#39;ll find you in the corner at a slot smokin away!
