What are the worst hotels in Las Vegas?
My research continues and always interested in maintaining my standards, however low they may be, I have compiled a list of some tourist oriented Las Vegas hotels with consistently the very lowest of the low ratings in the trip advisor review listings. You need not include places like the garden rooms at the Trop, who sometimes get bad reviews, I am talking 5 out of 5 that say why haven’t they imploded this dump already.
The list was going to be longer but the Klondike and Nevada have gone the way of the Sands.
I am open to suggestions on new additions.

The Worst Hotels in Las Vegas?
Chitown- How about the Aztec Inn down near the Strat? I think it still rents hovels , I mean rooms...I know the restaurant /casino still functions.
There is also a Travelodge down in the same area that looked pretty spooky last time we rode by ( windows rolled up, doors locked)
Good luck on your quest for the worst of the worst!
The Worst Hotels in Las Vegas?
Thanks actually the hotel at the Aztec did not get that bad of reviews. The bar was amusing though. We heard of offers in the back area but the health inspector was there that day and everyone behaved..
i know the two travelodges but i was not sure which was worse.
Then there are the no name, independent hotels on Main, north of the Strat and on east Fremont that are just not listed here. Places where room service and Candy on your pillow may be taken literaly.
Less than 4 weeks to go for us and the tux is out to the cleaners.
I hear the Gold Spike is just plain scary and filthy.
The ';Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas'; lists the following as the worst hotels in the City:
Wild Wild West
Golden Palm Hotel
Vagabond Inn
Gold Spike
Of course there are worst places but they are not advertising to the general public via the Internet.
Vagabond is new to me, kind of off the beaten track. It%26#39;s review is not up there withthe Golden Palm

Gold Spike is slowly improving but you would not know it unless you knew just how bad it was. The casino is not nearly as smokey as it was. The room was a decent. 30 dollar room, expect little and you will be fine. I got the feeling that housekeeping is trying real hard but has little to work with. A buck goes real far there compared to the Strip.
Best Western Mardi Gras is probably one small step up from fleabag dump. Large rooms but the hotel is notorious for dirty rooms and poor maid service. The bad reviews on here all seem to say the same thing.
Slow check in, very small casino and interesting looking people that hangout in the front. Pretty sure ladies of the night rent out rooms here when they are on call.
Sounds mediocre at best.

the garden rooms at palace station are pretty bad, the traveloge across from the monte carlo looks pretty bad.
It is something that a lot of folks don’t think about but If you look at the old photos, from say the 40’s, 50’s and even into the 60’s, a lot of the famous Las Vegas hotels looked a lot like a motel to our modern eyes. This is pretty much what they were. Folks would drive in from say LA and that worked back then. Later air travel was promoted, see the display at McCarran, and that became the way to arrive. Later, space being limited, the towers were added and the rest is history.
So when you look at the “garden rooms”, many times you are seeing the original hotel, not the overshadowing towers. Naturally, dating from so long ago, if they are not kept up, they can get a little funky to say the least.
I remember reading recently that the Golden Palm will give way sometime next year for a new high-rise hotel with casino. When I drove past that place last year, I recall wondering who in the world would choose to stay there. I love all the TA reviews that have as a title ';Never Again....'; It%26#39;s location is pretty lousy, unless freeway access is really important to you.
Are you overlooking the Downtowner?

The classic ';money quote'; of all time: ';Which is cleaner? a room at ther Downtowner, or a prison cell at the CA State Correctional Facility? My husband said his cell was cleaner than a room in this dump.';
