We've been locked out of Paris

My husband and I are attending a trade show Jan 6-9, 2007 and Paris (where the show is) is sold out. Does anyone have any suggestions and or recommendations on a close-by hotel? We%26#39;ve only been to Vegas once and stayed at the Monte Carlo. I liked it alot at the time but I remember it being a bit of a walk to Paris, and now they have that construction issue I%26#39;ve been reading about. Since his company is picking up the tab, price is not a factor, but it seems even Bellagio, Caesar%26#39;s and Venetian are also sold out. Thanks!

We've been locked out of Paris

Wow, I didn%26#39;t know casinos in Vegas had front doors they could actually lock-call security!

Seriously, I think you%26#39;re running into the mega-huge Consumer Electronics Show, although I%26#39;m not 100% certain of that fact. I notice that you didn%26#39;t mention Bally%26#39;s, which is connected to Paris. Other close hotels are the Barbary Coast (small, but decent) and the Flamingo. If the Strip is really booked solid, you may have to wander off-Strip to something like the Westin Casuarina (two blocks off-Strip on Flamingo Rd.)

We've been locked out of Paris

I%26#39;m assuming the reason why it%26#39;s sold out is because there is also a big trade show going on at that time--CES--Consumer Electronics show and expects at least 150,000 people (including my bosses and co worker!) My boss just booked a hampton inn near the convention center for $200 a night, when it%26#39;s normally $75 a night so you get the idea! Keep looking but book something fast as most places are already full!

Flamingo and Bally%26#39;s are booked. Rio and Harrah%26#39;s

are still available. I would book something today and you can change later if you need to but, you don%26#39;t want to be left far off strip and have to fight traffic to get back to your convention. Also, make some restaurant reservations now-you can always cancel but, at least you won%26#39;t be out of luck. Monte Carlo is not that long of a walk-10 to 15 minutes-to Paris. Good luck!

During the time that you will be there, more than 150,000 convention goes will also be in Las Vegas. I would suggest Bally%26#39;s or Aladdin. Barbary Coast ia a nice, friendly, quaint and defenitely clean hotel but by no means is it the same caliber as any of the mega resorts. Here is a website that displays the hotels on the strip so that you can gage where they are to paris.

Good Luck!

Thanks everyone - I made reservations at Harrahs just to have a place. I don%26#39;t know anything about the property though and wondered if we should consider somewhere else for the price ($385 a night)

Debbie, I would cancel Harrah%26#39;s and book the Mirage. They still have rooms available and it is a nicer property. I put in the dates of 1/5/07-1/10/07 and it comes out to $1815 or average of $363 per night. You will be able to walk to Paris in 15-20 minutes and it is a nice walk using the Pedestrian walkways by Caesar%26#39;s and Bally%26#39;s.

You will definitely enjoy the Mirage and they have some great restaurants and Caesar%26#39;s is just next door and Venetian is across the street.

We have stayed at Monte Carlo, got comped our whole stay, and get a lot of offers for free rooms, The Mirage is also a MGM property. Does our Players Card record follow us? Would we be more likely to get comped if we go back to the Monte Carlo or stay at a different property (The Mirage)? I know the Mirage is nicer, but I guess we could go back to Monte Carlo if the chances of being comped are better (as a repeat customer) Thanks for all of your ideas.

Debbie,

I am a member of MGM-Mirage%26#39;s Players Club, too, and there is a way to see all of your offers on their website. It%26#39;s www.playersclub.com and you%26#39;ll need your account # handy to register. This lists all your open offers at all their properties. Just be aware that often the number of rooms they comp per night is limited and they are probably blacked out or completely gone for the week of CES. You would have to be something approaching a whale to get comped during that show. As you have seen, even moderate properties like Harrah%26#39;s are waaaay over-priced during that time. I would take Mirage if it%26#39;s the same or a little more in a heartbeat.

Add a little excitment to your trip and stay at the Imperial Palace. With the rest of us poor schlubs! Just don%26#39;t tell the folks back home! At least the company would like that.

TOO Bad, next time think ahead.

Try Orleans, Gold Coast. South Coast.

Rent a car.
