In keeping with the format I will post below
Trip Highlights October 25th to November 8th
Checked in on line with Virgin the night before and was glad that we had done this as there was a line of about 300 people waiting to check in when we arrived at the airport. Went to the baggage drop and there was only two people in front of us so this was a godsend.
Stayed at the Monte Carlo, this was our first time staying here and I must admit I had reservations before leaving due to all the reviews that I had read on trip advisor over the last couple of months. The construction is noisy and we moved rooms twice due to it, but the walls being so thin and hearing the people next door flush the toilet and run the shower was 10 times worst than the construction noises. Plus with both rooms we had an adjoining room and you could hear everything that went on.
Gambling - Played mainly penny slot machines, we were in Las Vegas last in September 2005 and we were surprised at how many new machines there were. The big wheel of fortune seemed to be a popular game but this ate my money too quickly. Tried the new deal or no deal slots and whilst these were fun if you did not get the bonus up pretty quickly $20 did not last very long. They also have hot hot penny slots and Star Wars dark side which were not there last time and we enjoyed playing these. Played some poker at Luxor and Monte Carlo only $2-$4 limit as you can see we are low rollers. However, I did hit a straight flush on the flop at Monte Carlo but unfortunately as there was only me and the small blind in the pot and there was not enough money (there has to be a $10 minimum) I did not win the high hand bonus. Also played Let It Ride at Luxor which was fun.
Restaurants - Thanks to trip advisor we tried quite a few different restaurants this time.
The Peppermill with the Fireside Lounge was fantastic we had a meal first and then went next door to the lounge. All I can say is wow. Had the house special which was called the Scorpion for $15.00 which took us about an hour to drink between us ,we sat by the fire watching the small TV’s that are dotted everywhere. Also brought some of the coloured sugar granules to take home which were £6.95.
We also ate at the Grand Lux and the Cheesecake Factory which were places that we had never tried before. The portions were huge and the prices were quite reasonable. Had to try to Peach Bellini as I had heard quite a lot about it from the forum and this was superb.
Shows - We went to see O which I did not think was as good as Mystere which we saw last year. We had the restricted view seats but they were fine. Wanted to see Bodies and The Titanic but believe it or not we run out of time.
Big Elvis We left this to our second to last day. Again he put on a good show singing all the favourites this man has a voice. A friend of his also sang a couple of songs and he was really good as well. During the show they ask people to come up and help him during his performance. They needed four men but only three volunteered so my partner decided to go up and help out. They were all given inflatable guitars and had to dance about while Big Elvis sang. I was laughing so much at my partners antics that I had tears rolling down my face. He was throwing the guitar behind his back and between his legs and then going down on one knee. I thought to myself he is never going to get up from there as he suffers with his back. At the end the audience has to vote for the best performer and the winner receives a prize. Needless to say my partner won and received a CD from the big man. I wouldn%26#39;t mind but he hadn%26#39;t even had a drink, if he was at home he would never of done anything like that sober.
Shopping - We shopped at every mail and outlet mail in Las Vegas (or it felt like we did). Brought some bargains for UK prices anyway.
Tours - We did a Deluxe City and Red Rock Canyon Tour with Look Tours. I found this quite interesting as it took you downtown, along the strip and out to Ethel M, Summerlin and surrounding areas and the atomic testing museum. Our guide Larry was great. He told us a bit of the history behind Las Vegas and we got to see another side that we probably never would as we do not drive. After a Buffet lunch we went out to Red Rock Canyon which was beautiful. We drove the 13 mile loop and stopped off about four times so that we could take pictures.
This is just some highlights of our trip and I already planning next years. If you have any questions let me know.
