Anyone have problems with the hotel towels and shower water irritating your skin? I have sensitive skin - not super sensitive skin, and have had same problem 3 separate times at 3 different hotels.
Everywhere the towel touches my body it leaves red stripes (I look lilke a candy cane!).
The sink water to wash face, the shower water and the towels burn my skin and turn it red and blotchy. I bring my own cleansers so it is not from their soaps. The condition gets worse each day. I get rashes that burn like a very bad sunburn. It causes much pain on my shins that feels like all of the nerve endings are on fire and I can not do much walking (very inconvenient!) as each step is painful. I have to stop very frequently for the pain to subside and even while resting the legs are still throbbing with burning pain.
I know they treat the water and sanitize the towels, but I have not had this problem anywhere else - including cruise ships.
Are there any fellow sufferers out there?
sensitive skin issues at las vegas hotels
I think it%26#39;s the dry air. My skin dries out really bad, my knuckles get really sore from the dry air, and I even broke out in hives that last time I was there.

Wow, that sure sounds unpleasant. You should definitely bring your own towels - sure it%26#39;s a lot to pack but that%26#39;s a small price to pay to avoid all that misery. Also try washing your face with bottled water (again, expensive but worth it if it works.) If you%26#39;re still experiencing the problem even with your own towels and bottled water, then it%26#39;s obviously the dry air or some allergen that%26#39;s causing the problem and not the Vegas towels or water.
If you end up bringing your own towels, make sure they have bright colors and/or stripes, anything to distinguish them from hotel property. Otherwise, the maid is likely to remove them for routine laundering on your first morning there. I would even go as far as hanging them on a hanger or something in the closet, just to be on the safe side.
its the dry air and the ';junk'; in their water.
try to drink it, you will see, its full of minerals that are probably bad for your skin and hair.
That is why even the cheapest hotels, give you a moisturizing cream for free, LOL
My skin gets very dry and chapped in Vegas..especially in the winter..lots of lotion before during and after...I hate their towels..but not enough to bring my own..space is very limited with carry on...bring a in the shower moisture product too!
It%26#39;s so weird, but here at home (Colorado) I have to slather lotion on every day - I never have to in Vegas.
I have just returned and both myself and partner suffered with itching blotchy skin.
This is not the first time this has happened andI think it must have something to do with the water. It is not very pleasant to look at either.
Bring a bottle of quality Bath Oil. Soak every morning in a hot bath to lubricate the skin.
buy a travel towel (you can get them a Mountain Equipment Co-Op here in Canada) I suspect a camping store would have something like it too, small to pack (about 1 foot by 2 foot) but, super absorbant and if they get too full of water, you need only wring them out and then can continue to dry off.
I also use something like olay pre moistened face cleaning pads, no need to wash off at all.
I live in Alberta (VERY DRY) and don%26#39;t find any issues in LV with it being dry because of that I suspect.
Find a lotion that works well for you, it need not be expensive, I find Aveeno Oatmeal non scented cream works well (I can use it on my face as well as legs and hands when travelling)
Those are my suggestions, hope some of them work for you.
