My sister and brother in law are going to vegas for a short getaway without their kids right after christmas. For Christmas I would like to get them a gift certificate so that they can go have an enjoyable dinner together while they are there.
I%26#39;m having trouble deciding between:
Mon Ami Gabi (because of the great reviews on here)
Grand Lux Cafe (they love cheesecake factory)
Olives (because of the fountain view)
Keep in mind they have not been anywhere together without the kids since 2001. My sister is a stay at home mom and my brother in law is a Naval officer.
I%26#39;m looking for something romantic for two regular parents away from the kids.
I%26#39;m sure it would be easier if I had eaten at any of the above but I have not had the opportunity.
Any preferences or other ideas would be helpful?
Need help choosing restaurant for sister and bro in law?
I like Grand Lux, but I wouldn%26#39;t consider it for a special meal. It%26#39;s a good value, but the atmosphere isn%26#39;t anything special and the menu really is VERY Cheesecake Factory.
Both Olives %26amp; Mon Ami Gabi are nice and could make good choices if your goal is to find something reasonably affordable and at least somewhat special, a.k.a Vegas-y. Mon Ami Gabi is a chain, as others will tell you, but no other location could offer the nice view of the strip %26amp; Bellagio fountains. I never eat at the MAGs in Chicagoland because it%26#39;s a Vegas thing for me. It%26#39;s been a few years since I%26#39;ve eaten at Olives, but i did enjoy it. Circo might be worth considering too, if the Bellagio is a good location for them. The food %26amp; staff were great and I love the colorful but sophisticated atmosphere.
Another centrally located %26amp; fabulous New Orlean%26#39;s style dining experience can be found at Commander%26#39;s Palace. I actually ate there twice last week- once for dinner and once for their amazing lunch special (I had a three course email for $18.80 plus three of their yummy $0.25 martinis- YUM!) Gift certificates may only be good for dinner, but it could be worth checking.
Tell us more about your sister %26amp; b-i-l %26amp; their trip. What kinds of food do that like? What don%26#39;t they like? Where will they be staying?

Also, how much do you want to spend?
If you want a can%26#39;t miss romantic, unbelievable view food and service, then go with Alize at the Palms. They will love it and will thank you forever. It is in the same price range as Olives and Mon Ami Gabi. We were under the impression that it was more expensive than most but, we were there last week and it was not more expensive than any of the fine dining options in Vegas. Of the 3 that you suggested, I would say Mon Ami Gabi. You cannot guarantee them patio seating with a reservation. Same for Olives-patio seating can be requested once you arrive at the restaurant.
Good luck with your plans!
LOL! three course email- I kill myself! Of course, I meant a three course meal. The kind with food, no 1s %26amp; 0s.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
They will be staying at New York New York at the end of December right before New Years Eve. Although they don%26#39;t eat a lot, they do like seafood, italian food and steak.
I am planning on getting them a gift certificate for $75 to cover half of their meal (assuming it will cost approx $150)
Thanks for suggesting Alize as well. I read your TR and it sounds amazing.
Another choice would be to get them a Bellagio gift certificate and they can choose to do what they%26#39;d like with it.
Keep the suggestions coming =)
If I am very curious about the restaurants, I may eat check a couple of them out when I am in vegas at the beginning of December.
If they like steak, you might want to consider Delmonico in the Venetian. Delicious food, cool setting.
