Barbary Coast or Imperial Palace for January Stay

Had originally booked IP %26amp; then got better deal for 5 nights at the Barbary Coast; Have read the reviews %26amp; think the BC would be the better choice. I know the location of IP-is the BC comparable? Is the BC food good etc. Any more info would be great. Thanks

If you got a better deal at the BC, take it. It%26#39;s a smaller place meaning you don%26#39;t have to walk for 10 minutes from your room to the street. I have only eaten at the Victoria Room at the BC and the food was average. Have heard that the buffet at the IP is scary. I%26#39;ve had fun and good luck at both places. Both are fairly close to each other but the BC has a very slight edge in location. The rooms at the BC have been redone and are great for the price. The beds are comfortable and there is a large plasma TV hanging on the wall if you are interested in watching TV in Vegas. Only downside my family had was lack of a pool at the BC.

BC would be a far better choice in every category apart from the lack of a pool. Even then, IP%26#39;s pool is basic in the extreme.

Stay at BC.

It%26#39;s old style Vegas without the frills and themes but the rooms have recently been renovated and you cant beat the location.

Dont worry about eating there . You have so many choices all over the Strip that you can experience.

If you are from the Gold Coast I am familiar with the lack of a pool is no concern particularly in January.

Have a great time.

Thank you all so much for your replies - very much appreciated. Oskar, no we wont be missing the pool! We will fly out from home at around 37 degrees celsius %26amp; hit LV around 14 degrees, so the pool will NOT be a happening thing! Once again, thanks :)

Although I have never stayed at IP, I would definitly suggest you go with BC. It is not luxurious but it a very nice small hotel. The rooms are very clean and safe and they have a friendly and helpful staff that can%26#39;t be beat. Service is great. Don%26#39;t worry about the food choices- nobody goes to Vegas and eats only at the hotel they are staying at.

Disclaimer . . . I haven%26#39;t stayed at either.

That said, from my impressions, I%26#39;d choose BC . . . especially in January when a pool doesn%26#39;t matter.

The location is (IMO) every bit as good as IP . . . maybe better. It is smaller . . . and far easier to navigate . . . I find the layout of IP very confusing. The Victorian Room (24 hour cafe at BC) is very good. And Big Elvis performs in the lounge there :)

Had a great time playing roulette at BC last trip.

I have stayed at both places, and though I didn%26#39;t think the IP was as bad as most of the reviews make it out to be, the BC was far superior. The rooms are a very short walk from the entrance. Everything has been redone, so it is clean and nice. The location at BC is superior, you are right on the hottest corner in LV (Flamingo and the Strip) so walking anywhere on the strip is possible. Also, if you got a better deal at the BC, then the decision should be easy, go for the BC and have fun!!!

The IP is not as bad as some say-- even the buffet-- but it is very basic. Both it and the Barabary Coast will be torn down in a couple years.

Thank you all so much for your input - my hubby will be relieved- I think he thinks I am a little nuts (probably the case-lol). Roll on January - only 8 weeks %26amp; 5 days to go- no, I am not counting!!!!

Stayed at the BC this summer for 4 nights with 3 girl friends ( all of us over 50). Had a great time. Beds are very comfortable and rooms are very clean. Would stay again with no hesitation. Found the Victorian Room just fine for breakfast every morning,
