my husband and I moved to Los Angeles last year, and never been to Las vegas. We are planning a trip late january.
My husband checked some prices and found few hotels, please recommend one
Q1- Green Valley Ranch, South Point and Orleans
Q2- Since all these hotels are away from the strip, should we rent a car, or a daily cab ride to the strip makes more sence?
We are staying 7 nights, and average price per night for all the above hotels are under $80. We didn%26#39;t find anything better than average quality hotel on the strip for under $80
Any other suggestion
thanks
Kitty

Orleans has a free shuttle to nd from the strip.
If you are coming back late at night/early a.m then you will need a cab.
Not syre about the rest.

Why don%26#39;t you drive to Vegas. You%26#39;ll need a car there anyways, parking is free, and less hassle with a rental car.
Actually driving to vegas makes more sence, and maybe with the money we save, we can stay in a better located hotel
I would drive, 7 days seems a lttle long if you live in LA, and it would be better to stay on the strip. If you do not stay friday or saturday nights you can get a good deal on a strip hotel most weeks unless there is a major convention. Check out luxor, monte carlo or ballys, they should have good prices midweek and are pretty good places.
okay, if we don%26#39;t fly and drive with the money we save we can go higher than 100
Just checked vegas.com, here are my choices (av price per night, 7 nights)
South point $88
Imp Palace $97
Excalibur $104
tropicana $120
Flamingo, Bally%26#39;s and MonteCarlo are over $160
Kitty, if you live in LA, LV is just a 4-hour drive and you can go any weekend. Why 7-days if you live in LA?
IMO just go for 3-nights and stay someplace nice. Then return on weekends whenever you want like all folks from LA do.
Check prices on the strip from Sunday to Thursday and stay off strip Friday and Saturday.
looks like you picked a busy week, did you look on the rate calendar that shows the price everyday, you could always do a few nights at south point, it is brand new and close and a few nights on the strip.
its one week, because we want to see all there is to see and not to torture ourselves.
but 4 or 5 weeknights makes sence, financially, at least, and we can stay in a better hotel, or save some money by staying off strip
LV, driving to LV would be an excellent idea.
Click on ';more about Lowrance'; for my review of the South Coast. (Now called South Point) It%26#39;s a great little Casino, and still offers a shuttle to the Barbary Coast, dead center of the strip. It%26#39;s about 5 to 7 minutes south of Mandalay Bay on Las Vegas Blvd.
For a first timer wanting to see as much as possible, if you can stay at a hotel on the strip, it would probably be more convenient for you. But with a car, you can always drive from South Coast to a parking structure centrally located and see Casino%26#39;s that way.
Hope you have a wonderful time!
