Golden Nugget SAYS Their Pool is Completed

We called the Private Arrangements Office at the Nugget today and while we were at it asked them if the ppol was done - to which she replied ';Yes, FINALLY!'; She also says the Sports Book is complete.

I hope someone who is Downtown soon will post and let us know if all this is accurate.

The really good news is that we called to check on our Private Arrangement points and we have over 300 points, which means three free nights anytime! We never gamble at Nugget, being low rollers, but this Private Arrangemnet program really seems to pay off for us, because we earn free nights just for staying there whether we gamble or not- it works out to about one free night for every four paid- except that at certain times they double or even triple your points so you earn free nights faster.

So, now we will keep our eyes on airfares and see when we can go back!

Golden Nugget SAYS Their Pool is Completed

Well I guess you better get there (Go Dukes) when it%26#39;s warm enough to enjoy the pool. (Go Dukes)

I%26#39;ll check for you when I%26#39;m there in Dec and (Go Dukes) report back then.

Golden Nugget SAYS Their Pool is Completed

Oh boy, just in time to make an ice skating rink out of it. LOL

Explain more about the Private Arrangements program please. I guess it is connected to GN%26#39;s player%26#39;s club?

Thanks.

You don%26#39;t have to be a member of the Players Club at GN to be in Private Arrangements- it has nothing to do with gambling- we have never gambled there.

You call the Private Arrangements Office at GN (1-800-456-8443) and enroll. You then make all your reservations by calling the Private Arrangements Office each time. They keep track of your points. I know for each Mon- Thurs. night you get 25 points. I think you only get 20 per night for Fri and Sat. but we never go on weekends so I don%26#39;t know for sure. Whenever you get 100 points you can apply them for a free room night. ( it may take more than 100 for a Fri or Sat.)

You check in at the regular registration desk. They used to have a separate window for PA but I don%26#39;t think they did last time. The check in is the same. When you check out, the desk clerk says, ';you have earned (XX) private arrangement points so far- would you like to use them now or keep them in your account.? You have to have a minimum of 100 to use them.

However, in the past GN has had special offers for PA guests. We get a newsletter about four times a year. Sometimes they will offer you 50 points for certain dates ( their slower times). When they closed down the pool , they offered triple (75) points for each night for several dates. We go to Vegas three or four times a year and usually have enough points for at least two or three free nights a year. Sometimes they also have other things like their coupon book with two for one buffets etc. It costs nothing to join.

We learned about it the first time we stayed at GN about ten years ago. At that time they used to give an invitation to a cocktail party for all first time guests when you registered -which was sponsored by the Private Arrangement staff to tell you about the program- don%26#39;t know if they still do that. It was a great party- open bar, pizza, wings, sushi etc and lots of nice doorprizes.

Since we are not big gamblers we would never earn ';comps'; based on play so this is the only reward program that works for us.

You don%26#39;t have to join the Players Club at all. I had never joined Players Club till last year when they had a $10 in free Slot Play if you joined. It is a much better deal than those ';free pull'; things at other casinos because they preload your player%26#39;s card and you can use it on about any slot in the place. I managed to win $48 on my $10 free play in about 5 minutes. It%26#39;s the first and last time I%26#39;ve ever gambled at the Nugget!

We like PA and if you stay downtown it seems like you have nothing to lose by trying it.. The PA room rate you get when you call is always as low or lower than the Internet rate. Last year we saw $59 posted on the Internet and called PA to reserve a room and they asked us if we wouldn%26#39;t rather have $39 instead! Room at GN for $39 ( plus PA points toward a future room) sounds like deal to me!

Thanks for checking on it Doc! So sorry my Dukes lost that close game last time- have forgotten to check who they play next- Still have much better record than most of our Florida teams, except of course the Gators!

We were downtown this past weekend and walked through the GN to check out the changes. There is still a lot of construction going on. The pool looked like it was done, but there was no one using it. It looked real nice, like a resort in the Caribbean.

Thanks! We don%26#39;t want to swim there- heck we can do that anytime here- but so many folks have complained about noise and general inconvenience...so hopefully they will soon be all done with everything- I just hope that they won%26#39;t raise the prices on us- we like their rates- have never paid more than $69 a night for years (weekdays of course) !

This blog from the LAtimes has a reveiw of sorts on the new open GN Pool.

Lulutoo: Was at the GN all last week...pool is NOT finished..workers drilling where the water will be.. ...looks like a circular canal around a bigger structure with a huge fish tank( with some very large fish) in the middle......couldn%26#39;t go to the upper level, so not sure if there is another pool up there, couldn%26#39;t figure it out because the area was roped off....., .Will be very nice when it is done......Sat by the area reading the newspaper in 74 degree sun, leather lounge chairs.(next to a 2007 Mustang, as they are giving one away each day).....,,rather small hot tub and a small bar...

Pool maybe complete but not open. We were there last week through the 17th and I asked last Sunday when the pool would be open. I was told it would open after Monday. The pool did not open. In fact by Wednesday the pool had been drained and yellow tape surrounded it. The pool bar is open and so is the hot tub - very nice. They really did a super job on the pool area. Can%26#39;%26#39;t wait to go down the water slide through the shark tank. Kudos Golden Nugget.
